Music lessons

Beginners, returners,
and players who want
to get properly good.

One to one, or in small groups. In person in Westerhaven, or online from anywhere.

How lessons work

One lesson a week, in person in Westerhaven or online, on a monthly fee that holds your time.

01

A fixed weekly time

Same day, same time, reserved for you. There is nothing to book each week. If you need to move one, tell Sam and you are offered another slot that week.

02

Music you can use at home

Sheet music, exercises, backing tracks and video, set after each lesson. Sheets open on your phone or tablet and scroll down the page themselves, so both hands stay on the instrument.

03

Questions between lessons

Message Sam from your practice area when something is not working. No app to install, no phone numbers to find.

The practice area

Everything from your lessons, in one place

Every student gets a private page. What was covered, what to work on, and the music to work on it with — dated to the lesson it came from.

  • Sheet music and exercises that scroll themselves while you play
  • Backing tracks, playing straight from the page
  • Lesson videos, and links to anything useful elsewhere
  • Notes and practice for every lesson, written up afterwards

It works in any browser. There is nothing to buy and nothing to install.

What the fee covers

Lessons are paid monthly by card. Your slot is held for you every week — there is nothing to rebook and nothing to remember.

The amount is the same every month, holidays included — £80 in February, £80 in July. Your time is held either way.

Starting with a single lesson

You can book one lesson on its own first, paid separately. There is no subscription until you decide to take a weekly slot.

Questions

Common questions

How many lessons does the monthly fee cover?

Forty-eight lessons a year — one a week, with four weeks off for holidays. The fee is the same every month so there is nothing to work out in December or July.

What if we are on holiday, or ill?

Tell me early and I will move the lesson to another slot that week. The fee holds your regular time, so it does not change.

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes, one you can practise on at home. If you are buying your first, ask me before you spend anything.

Do I need to buy anything to read the music?

No. Sheet music opens in your practice area and scrolls down the page by itself at whatever speed suits you, so both hands stay on the instrument. Backing tracks play there too.

How old do you have to be?

Most children are ready around seven or eight, though it depends on the child more than the age. Book a first lesson and I will tell you.

Online or in person?

Both. In person in Westerhaven, or online. Plenty of people mix the two.
